At Vector Digital Solutions LLC, mentorship is defined by a commitment to professional excellence and the bridging of academic theory with high-consequence engineering reality. Our philosophy is built on three core pillars:
1. Strategic Discipline
Drawing on senior-level strategic doctrine and executive leadership principles, we teach students to view engineering challenges within the context of the larger mission. We mentor interns to look beyond immediate tasks to understand the long-term lifecycle and organizational impact of their technical decisions.
2. Multidisciplinary Rigor
With a Multi-disciplinary foundation, our approach emphasizes the physical truth behind the data. We guide students in the mastery of the digital thread integrating systems engineering, computer and data science and engineering principles to real world problem sets. Utilizing tools such as CATIA, ANSYS, LS-Dyna, GitHub, SolidWorks and use of 3D printing machines, ensuring they understand the molecular and mechanical properties that dictate a system's success.
3. Professional Standard of Care
We adhere to the highest industry benchmarks, utilizing CSEP professional ethics and Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition standards as our teaching baseline. This ensures that every intern departs the residency with a "professional-first" mindset, prepared to enter the workforce with a deep understanding of MBSE, data integrity, and the Systems Engineering V-Model. We provide hands on training for professionalism in the workplace including operating successfully in the Microsoft 365 environment, Agile team management, project leadership, meeting facilitation and professional presentations.
Vector Digital Solutions LLC offers a premier 300-hour technical residency designed for senior-level STEM students. Under the direct mentorship of a CSEP-certified Principal with a Harvard Executive Fellowship and Air War College strategic background, participants will engage in mission-critical research at the intersection of digital twins and physical prototyping.
The residency is structured around four core technical domains, utilizing DAWIA Level III standards for engineering management and quality assurance:
Systems Engineering Lifecycle: Mastery of the Systems Engineering "V-Model" to manage requirements from initial concept through verification and validation.
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Direct application of the Digital Thread, transitioning traditional documentation into integrated, data-centric architectures.
Multidisciplinary Computational Science: Utilizing the Principal’s expertise in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Materials Science to validate viscoelastic behavior in complex mechanical systems.
Advanced Digital Design & Prototyping: Professional-grade modeling in SolidWorks and precision 3D printing to create sensor-integrated physical models.
Technical Syllabus Overview (300 Hours)
Phase I: Professionalism in the Workplace - Students will learn how to succeed professionaly in the workplace. Training includes business ethics, cybersecurity fundamentals, project management (Jira, GitHub), Microsoft 365, facilitating teams and meetings and creating impactful presentations.
Phase Ii: Digital Design & Fabrication - Advanced SolidWorks modeling and high-precision 3D printing.
Phase IiI: Systems Architecture - Implementing MBSE methodologies for full-stack requirements traceability.
Phase IV: Computational Physics - High-fidelity LS-DYNA simulation to align physical test data with digital twins.
Phase V: Data Integration - Engineering automated data pipelines and managing complex Digital Thread structures.
This program is unique in its leadership pedigree. Interns do not just perform tasks; they are integrated into a professional workflow modeled after Department of Defense (DoD) major acquisition programs.
Executive Mentorship: One-on-one guidance from a former DoD Head of Digital Engineering with a Master of Science in Materials Science Engineering.
Strategic Doctrine: Exposure to high-level organizational leadership principles derived from the Air War College and Harvard Executive Fellowship.
Certification Standards: Training designed to align with CSEP and INCOSE professional benchmarks.
This syllabus is specifically tailored to meet the senior design and professional internship credits for Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU): Mechanical Engineering Senior Requirements.
We are currently accepting applications from Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science students for the Summer 2026 session. This is an unpaid internship and no relocation or travel expenses will be provided.
